Biography from Leonard Maltin's Movie Encyclopedia: As a child, the versatile Parker danced with the Cincinnati Ballet, sang with the Metropolitan Opera, appeared in her first TV show (at age 8), and took over the role of "Annie" on Broadway for two years. She made her film debut in Rich Kids (1979) and started gathering fans with her work on the intelligent teen sitcom "Square Pegs" (1982-83). Supporting roles followed in Footloose, Firstborn (both 1984), Girls Just Want to Have Fun (1985), and Flight of the Navigator (1986), before she returned to TV in the critically acclaimed series "A Year in the Life" (1987-88). In 1990 she joined the cast of another short-lived series, "Equal Justice," then, finally, won a really good role, as the Venice Beach babe SanDeE* in L.A. Story (1991) with Steve Martin. She has since appeared as the object of James Caan's and Nicolas Cage's affections in Honeymoon in Vegas (1992), a reborn witch in Hocus Pocus (1993), a river patrol cop in Striking Distance (also 1993), a 1950s starlet in Ed Wood (1994), and a fianc?e with second thoughts about marriage in Miami Rhapsody (1995).
